“Dear Dik: How are you and what are you up to??
We're so sorry for the silence on this end after your great message and links to the Web site. What a great travel journal you've created online. We've certainly been think of you and Case, particularly this spring when we knew you were completing the final leg of your camino and reuniting with family at the end. I hope all was in good health after your operation and that you can now enjoy holidays of luxury with your wife!
Ironically we went to a Spanish restaurant the other night to celebrate a few things and sat beside a gentleman who had just finished his Camino. It was wonderful to chat and to offer our congratulations to him. It also reminded me that I had so much to write about and news to share since our days on the trail.
I would love to write more but am keeping it a little short as I am still at work but was determined to send a quick response at least. The Camino for both Andrew and I started off as an adventure. It became quite a personal learning experience as we filtered through the clutter of our individual minds along the path. It was a rewarding gift of friendship from all of the fellow travellers and you were both very inspirational as we met up with you and Case along the way. More than anything it was an experience to unite us for life. Andrew and I got married on a magical winter day, March 1st, just five months after returning from our Santiago de Compostella. True to the Camino, we kept everything local to our little village and had photos taken as we walked through a historic covered bridge which reminded us very much of the trails we passed along.
This February we will begin a new journey as we are expecting a baby! We found out just as we were to depart for a rest at an eco-lodge in northern coastal Mozambique (truly a heavenly spot) and then really had some fun exploring Botswana with friends and family. Andrew and I have already started to explore how we can keep to the trails and enjoy every moment as we learned to do on the camino.
There are loads of photos on our site and I think Andrew is finally finished with the last of the Camino photos. Just check www.atrens.ca for Camino and wedding photos as well as much, much more. If you don't have the pass anymore just click for a password and Andrew will send it through to you.
I'm sure that you are busy with things at home but would love to hear how things are going when you've got a little time.
All the best from your Canadian camino friends with more stories to come - g & a”
